Through successfully completing our disciplinary boot camp for troubled youth, participants are armed with the skills and motivation to achieve more than they ever thought possible. This includes relationship-building, academics, sporting achievements and beyond. And if they don’t succeed, they’ll have the confidence and resilience to bounce back and try again.
The team at Veteran Mentors understand the difficulties that come with disciplining kids and teens. Our disciplinary boot camps are designed to help kids and teens overcome technology addiction, self-esteem issues and gain respect for themselves and others.
Our teenage boot camps in Perth were developed by Defence Force Veterans who have an in-depth understanding of military-style training and how it can transform the lives of participants.
The team of ex-servicemen and women at Veteran Mentors made use of the many life skills gained during deployments in order to provide a boot camp for troubled youth that help participants become proactive and productive members of society.
The Junior Leader Program combines elements of child mentoring programs and troubled teen programs in order to offer a program that is not only for children and teenagers that are experiencing difficulties but for all kids and teens across Australia that want to benefit from a disciplinary boot camp.
When participants take part in the Veteran Mentors behavioural summer camps, they engage in exciting outdoor activities that incorporate lessons based on courage, resilience, initiative and teamwork. At the completion of the Junior Leader Program, participants are equipped with critical life skills such as relationship-building, academics, sporting achievements and plenty more.
Some of the activities involved in our disciplinary boot camps include physical and nutritional education, making beds, polishing boots, ironing uniforms, cleaning their barracks, and military marching. By completing routine tasks and placing value on them, participants begin to take pride in their workmanship and are able to continue this mindset at home and in life.
As well as participating in these routine activities, our Junior Leaders have a ball getting active with the chance to go rock climbing and abseiling, as well as having a go at a high ropes course, an Army-style obstacle course, survival training and skydiving.
Our troubled teen programs are run at purpose-built, school camp facilities. The advantage of choosing these sites for our camp is the natural surroundings, isolation from distractions and vicinity to natural waterfalls and bushlands. At the camp, participants are provided with bunk bed accommodation and access to amenities, as well as regular meals prepared with nutrition in mind.
